Sales Rep Lied Re: 14 Days To Cancel
As others describe, K. M.
rep required H & W present. After presentation, he filled out contract, pointed to a 14-day clause and lied by assuring us we had 14 days to cancel the contract. He handed me a pen and pointed to where I was to sign. When I tried reading the clause myself, he interrupted, restated I had 14 days to cancel, and again pointed to the signature line.
After 2 more readings, I stood my ground, stating the OFFER would remain open for 14 days, but if I signed, I had but 3 days to cancel. He argued, telling me I didn't understand the contract.
I stood my ground and he left. He was lying to us.
DO NOT USE KITCHEN CABINET
My husband reached out to Kitchen Magic and made an appointment with this company during his work hours. When the representative arrived, he quickly asked for my husband and when I told him that I was going to be making the decisions, he quickly dismissed me and told me he will come back when my husband was at home.
When he returned the next day, my husband explained we wanted to resurface our 20 year old kitchen cabinets. When he told us it would cost us $13,500, we were speechless. Understand resurfacing kitchen cabinets simply means they were glueing a vinyl covering to make it look new. For $13,500, we would have rather purchased a whole new kitchen.
My husband explained we were on a budget (we just got married, bought a new home and were re-modeling the whole house) and that if we went to IKEA we would be able to purchase a new kitchen for $2,000-$3,000. The representative responded "I'm pretty sure you have a coupon laying around that you can use for IKEA". I told him he could leave now and he didn't. He tried to engage my husband into some heated argument but my husband wouldn't take the bait.
We both told him: "thank you. You can leave now". We ended up buying a whole new kitchen with a granite countertop for $6,000 through a local business.
Please do yourself a favor and contact your local kitchen cabinet maker. I am pretty sure you will save your time, energy and a ton of money by going with your local business.
"Husband has to be home"??
Kitchen magic advised that they will not come to the estimate at my home because my husband had to be home. They then doubled back and said the homeowner had to be home when I advised that I am the homeowner and he is not.
They insisted he be home and we ended with no appt. for me this is complete discrimination. The manager then tried to tell me they want the people who make the decisions home. Which is when I told her that I do in fact make the decisions and have the bank account.
They seem to be stuck on outdated policies that in the end will narrow the gap for their competition. None of whom required that the "mister" be present.

I am a Master Cabinetmaker for over 40 years. I have seen their work first hand on several occasions.
The work is poor, the materials are junk, and the homeowner doesn't know any better until it is too late. I have had to fix their mistakes, and correct things that were not done correctly in the first place. These people are nowhere close to being experts in cabinet work. Their "refacing" is done with cheap vinyl laminate, thermofoil doors, and the cheapest component hardware available.
Do yourselves a favor and stick with true professionals rather than the franchise names, big box stores and department stores offering home improvements. The smaller independant contractors in most instances will give you a better result, and save you aggrivation & money.
Kitchen Magic does good work, but don't hold your breath for a call back
Recently wished to engage Kitchen Magic as they had previously done nice counter work for us. We kept getting re-directed to someone's voice mail, who promised to return call w/in 3 days.
In the interim we found a better alternative for our project. If there is a three-day call back wait, I am not sure I would be comfortable engaging this company.
I am wondering what would happen if there had been an actual problem on a contracted job. Would I have a 3-day phone recall wait while my kitchen may be in a shambles?
Hustled...BIG time!
Kitchen Magic re-faced my kitchen cabinets and applied a laminate over the counter-tops 10 years ago. Immediately the laminate began lifting, Magic was called, they came and told me that the glue was defective. They replaced the lifting laminate, and per contract no charge parts/labor. Good. I have had the identical problem...lifting laminates section by section. Here's the hitch: now I pay $75 per call for labor, why? Because the contract (although for the life of my home ownership) will NOT extend to cover the labor. It's not a leap that encourages me to think that the adhesive was defective from the date of installation, this same adhesive continues problematic and results in lifting of the counter-tops. Why am I charged $75 per go around--and go around we do. Kitchen Magic: they are a crafty bunch over there, from the customer service rep and up into the management. Consumer/customer: BEWARE. I'm just a regular customer who wanted the job done right the first time. Now I'm paying yearly for their initial and admitted mistake.

Resolved: Kitchen Magic = Lowe's/Home Depot!
My parents are using them...
1st they do not disclose that they contract the work out! My parents had no idea that someone else was coming, not someone from kitchen m...in the end the first guy was nice, but he was ALONE! This was not a job for one man, but it is up to the contractor to add people because it is taken from their pay so to speak. In the end, work stopped for a day, which is unacceptable, and there have been so many "unforeseen" issues because they didn't really look at the kitchen before they quoted and signed. For one, to not tell the client that they need to empty the refrigerator prior is absurd. It is a working family kitchen, if they actually knew what was to be done, they would have asked them to empty it prior. There have been so many, oh gee, hmm, this is a tough one, wow, difficult; blah blah blah. Again, if they truly looked at the cabinets and moved some things to really know what the job entailed, my parents would not have had so much grief. I feel so bad for my parents. They are spending over $16,000.
FYI Home Depot and Lowes have the same business in terms of contracting out. Yes you have to use their products, but Kitchen Magic uses laminates...my parents could have gotten the same or a new kitchen. Lowes and Home Depot check on the contractor and make sure you know it too. You don't have to chase the company and/or work people like KM.
I would NEVER recommend to any one. In the end, the grief isn't worth it. I have been scammed by contractors before, so I will no longer tolerate nonsense. They technically aren't scamming but they sure aren't open and honest about their business and how it works. My parents were too trusting.
Kitchen magic --- scam artists $$$
I had kitchen magic come in and they tried ripping me off.. they had a salesman come in and he quoted me 13,999 ..
not a big kutchen by the way..right off the bat i said "that is a highprice ". He comes back and says how about 11,000.. so he dropped his price $3000.. in a matter of seconds..
can't i get brand new cabinet s installed for 1/2 that.. he says no way..
i got Refacing installed for $5000 by a mom and pop shop and it looks awesome .. that salesman and kitchen magic are theives ..
Kitchen Magic - All talk, no listening, too much $$$
I'm so glad I decided to use a local company instead of Kitchen Magic for my kitchen update. They listened to me, used high quality products, and met my budget.
I'm looking at options for renovating my kitchen. Several things happened before getting to the contract signing point - thankfully.
1. I made an appointment three weeks in advance. The appointment was confirmed 3 days before the scheduled date. They called the day before and wanted to reschedule to later that day. What's the point in scheduling so far in advance if they can't make the appointment?
2. I was interested in cabinet refacing and new counter tops. The KM representative showed up and proceeded to show me a sample of what he just installed in his kitchen. I told him straight out that his choice what not to my taste. I like very contemporary furnishings. He continued to steer me towards very traditional.
3. the KM rep decided that I didn't need cabinet refacing but should replace the counters. He proceeded to show me samples of the material that I was interested in. He had something derogatory to say about every sample that I liked. At that point he could be giving it away and I wouldn't do business with him.
4. He gave me an estimate for replacing the counters. I've had two other estimates from reputable companies. The KM price is nearly 3 times the local vendors - for the same identical material. BTW - he claimed that only KM sold that brand.
Advice? Look for a local vendor. They will have the quality products for much less, and they are more likely to listen to you.
Don't Do It !
Call their customer service first before filing a complaint, Are you Kidding ! Kitchen Magic customer servivce is the worst, beware don't give a deposit you will never get it back no matter what.
They destoyed my kitchen and made a mess. 1 year without a kitchen, thats what kind of screwed up company this is. When you go to the Home Shows or see their displays at the Mall, my suggestion is to keep on walking.
This company would never make it on "under coverboss" because there isnt anyone you can speak with that will help you. They shouldnt be in the retail or customer service bussines.
Kitchen Magic tells you one thing and "Magic" they take your deposit and change the Deal !
"Beware" Kitchen Magic will offer to re-face your cabinets or provide you with custom cabinets.
I didn't want glued on or faced cabinets because that what was currently in my kitchen and looked like ***.
So I selected the custom cabinets and gave a required deposit.
Like "Magic" they started to demo my kitchen and came in with new BARE WOOD CABINETS and material that looked like formica. They were going to glue it on to the cabinets in my kitchen and use a rooter to trim it."ARE YOU KIDDING"
I explained clearly on my contract i did not want faced cabinets. This company left me with a mess ! Back and forth with management with no results.
Poorly run company,Sales Reps are liars and will take your money and not refund it because they use that "custom" word. Not real wood, not custom, their products are junk and so is the Company.
Pissed at Kitchen Magic- No refunds
Hi
I had Kitchen Magic out to my home for an estimate on resurfacing my kitchen cabinets. I picked out a design and was given a price.
I placed a down payment of $1,800.00 and less than one week later decided not to go through with the job.
The company refused to refund any money stating" you need to ask for a refund in 3 days" They had not even scheduled the date for the work, and obviously hadn't ordered the material yet, but they refused to refund anything. STAY AWAY from this company- I am a single Mom and I feel they took advantage of me.
Warranty does not cover product if it gets wet (kitchen)
